An assembly plant runs to takt time. Tuggers and forklifts feed the line on a fixed cycle, robots and presses work inside guarded cells, and people move between all of it on foot — often in the same aisle, at the same moment.
VICAS™ applies the same edge detection stack to the plant that it applies to a construction site: cameras on material handling equipment and over the shop floor, zones drawn around cells and walkways, and alerts raised where a person and a machine are converging rather than after the fact.
What it detects
Line-side pedestrian and vehicle separation
Tuggers, forklifts and pedestrians sharing a delivery aisle are tracked together, so a converging path is flagged before it closes.
Restricted and guarded cell entry
Entry into a robot cell, press area or maintenance zone during an active cycle is detected and time-stamped against the operation.
Real-time PPE detection
Hard hat, vest, gloves and safety footwear are checked at shop entry points and inside live work areas.
Material and load handling
Unattended stock in a travel lane, and unsafe manual contact with a suspended or tensioned load, are recorded as unsafe acts.
Impact on the operation
Human-machine convergence in feed aisles is caught while it is still a near-miss rather than reviewed after an incident.
PPE and restricted-zone reporting is produced from what actually happened on the floor, in a form an audit can use.
